Released in a hard cardboard jacket with two layers, so a double inner spread is shown. The bag for the disc opens from the inside, after the first page has flipped. Photographs of the musicians are shown then. A second turn of the page shows a wide image with all band members in front of a wooden country house. Here are the credits to the left and the right. The additional musician credits are given on the rear of the jacket, beneath the track-listing.

Mother Earth's "Living With the Animals" album made Powell St. John one of my favorite songwriters. He composed almost all of its highlights: "Marvel Group," a nearly perfect portrait of the loneliness of exceptional people; the comical "Living with the Animals" (if those MGTOW guys are still looking for a theme song, I think I've found it); and the topper, "The Kingdom of Heaven Is Within You," a wrenching plea for the repentance and reformation of a nameless friend of St. John's. (The 13th-Floor Elevators played a spookier but less beautiful version in '66.) The rest of "Living With the Animals" is competent blues-rock and white soul in the late-Sixties style and is probably meant for people other than me, although I do like "Goodnight Nelba Grebe," "Mother Earth" and "I Did My Part." I recommend it for the Powell St. John songs and advise caution regarding Mother Earth's subsequent albums, which are dominated by Tracy Nelson. St. John's "I, the Fly" from the next record, "Make a Joyful Noise," is worth hearing if you can buy it cheap.
I messed up, turns out she was killed by a car in San Francisco. I thought she died of a drug overdose. This is what I get for gossiping -- deleting the reference to her
Just picked up a copy in great shape for $8. I knew by the record packaging there was something decent on the vinyl. Good album! What happened to Tamarie?
